June 2017

Here we are almost at the end of our Lionistic year, and a new year in the Lions world starts on the 1st July each year. Rather than look back at our club, I want to share with you a statistic that has just dropped into my email inbox. Since 1968, our International Foundation has donated $1 Billion to communities across the world to ease hardship from all manner of disasters, both natural and man-made. That's a side of Lions, that not many are aware of.

Well at last, we were able to present a cheque for £2142.27 to the Serv Wessex Blood Bikers, who were our chosen charity for this years Easter Egg Appeal. A group of Lions went down to meet with them, to hand over the cheque. We made the front page of the Bordon Messenger, thanks to the efforts of the Club's PR officer, and there are lots of photos on our website in the Gallery section. What a great job those bikers do, volunteering so much time to support our NHS, by delivering life-saving items.

Our planning for the Blackmoor Apple Tasting day is now underway, more of this nearer the time, but please do make a note of the date in your diary: Sunday 8th October 2017. It is a great free event, so hope to see you there.

This month you will find us helping at the Gilbert White House, Selbourne, 'Unusual Plant Sale' on Sunday 18 June. We shall also be supporting the Farnham Carnival on Saturday 24 June 2017.

Hope to see you at one of these events, if you want to help out as well, just get in touch with us, you will be most welcome.
