February 2022

As the days are gradually beginning to lengthen and Spring is not too far around the corner, we, at Woolmer Forest Lions, are beginging to plan our events for the next few months. We will be launching this year's Easter Appeal in the next few weeks, part of which will include a stall at the Town Partnership Spring Fair on 16th April 2022.

We are also planning a Spring Clean, getting out with our litter pickers in some of the local areas are in need of a tidy up. If you see us out in our bright Lions tabards, please do give us a wave.

Plans are in place to celebrate the Queens Jubilee, and we will be helping out at several of the local events, please keep a watch out on our website for details of when and where.

Local residents continue to support our re-cycling projects - collecting aluminum drinks cans and unwanted spectacles, and we have now also started collecting hearing aids. Just take any unwanted hearing aids along with spectacles to the Spectrek collection points.

Everything we do is dependent on our members who are all volunteers, without them there would be no Woolmer Forest Lions. We do need to try and increase membership and we will be running a campaign in the next few months to try and encourage some local residents to join us. If you think membership might be something you are interested in, or if you would just like to find out what being a member would involve, please email me on aywilson@btopenworld.com and I will be happy to give you some more information.

As restrictions concerning Covid are being lifted we will hopefully see more of you getting out and enjoying local events, but it is important that we all remember to still take care and stay safe.
