Presidents Ramblings

How time flies, here we are in December already; one of the busiest months of the year for Woolmer Forest Lions. By the time you are reading this, we have been at the Botdon Fayre. I would like to thank you, if you supported us at the Tombola, raising funds for needy families. We raised £270.

Our very own Santa, Lion Ray greeted lots of children in his grotto, wishing them well for the festive season. We are out and about this month, so please check out our Future Events to see where we will be. Our Santa will be taking the Lions Xmas sleigh out and about collecting for local people needing our help. We hope to see you at one of the venues.

At the middle of last month a few of us were at the Bordon War Memorial planting some spring bulbs and we hope to have some photographs on-line in our Gallery shortly showing our intrepid band of gardeners hard at work. Its part of our help to the community that we are undertaking to mark the Lions Centennial Year. Although we cannot claim to have been going for a century, but we are well on the way to celebrate the first half century.

We have just completed the Xmas parcel collections, with our distinctive yellow bags, so if you have donated items to us, then we would like to say A BIG THANK YOU. The club collects your generous donations and converts them to parcels for needy families in our area. If the families have children, we buy toys to add as Xmas gifts. We are notified by various agencies of the families that need our help.

At this time of year may I wish all of our readers and supporters a very peaceful Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the Lions at Woolmer Forest Lions Club. If when you make this years New Year Resolution, you might think you would like to help your local community? Please think of us and come along to one of our meetings. The address is on the Home Page, and we usually meet on the first Monday of each month. We always need more help, so come and join us.

Seasons Greetings
