September 2017

Welcome Readers

September already, where has the year gone.

Last month I wrote about a couple of fundraising items so I thought I should update you with further news.

The Blood Bikers presentation had to be put back, so photographs will appear after the revised presentation date of September 16.

We have just heard from the Lions clubs local to Grenfell Towers in West London, that money donated from Lions Clubs has enabled them to supply all schoolchildren affected by this terrible fire, to be re-equipped with school bags/ sports kit and stationery items as well as providing support to the wider teaching community with much needed support.

So where are we off to this month?

Its a rather quiet time for us. We shall be at the Gilbert White Dog Show and we are off to enjoy a skittles evening, in the middle of the month, so you can see its not all about work, we try and have fun too.

A group of us had the pleasure of going to see first -hand the work being done by volunteers at the Heatherland Nature Reserve at Headley. What a sterling job that small band of local people are doing, returning to organised nature a wild area for the benefit of their community. Well done to them. Just visit the News page for August 2017 on our website to see some photos of the clubs cheque handover, supporting them in their valuable work.

Our next Quiz Night will be held at the Headley Village Hall on October 27th. So if you enjoy a fun quiz then please make a note in your diaries, more details will be passed on in due course. Please check out our Future Events page, to see what is planned.

If you see us out and about do say hello, there is always room in our club for more people. If just want to help out on an event or two, you can become a Friend of Lions, we would love to see you.
