July 2017
Well Happy New Year..... No I haven't lost it yet ... it just so happens that July is the start of a new Lionistic year. Lions all over the world have been celebrating our centennial year, a year that closed with a worldwide membership of just under 1.5 million Lions. That is some membership!
Given all that is going on around us, it is perhaps a little trite to be happy for our new year. However in all of the past two months events local Lions have been active in their communities, with contributions from across the world Lions clubs going to local needs.
I had much fun assisting at the Farnham Carnival last month, never been I hear you say... well you missed a jolly good event. It was great to see local schools getting into the spirit of the carnival and to see so many kids carnivalling . So too was the sight of one of our past Lions, Doreen, being pushed along in a wheelchair, all dressed up for the occasion. Good on you Lion Doreen and all her helpers.
So where are we off to next?
Well July is a little quiet, but you will find us at Gilbert White on the 6th August for the Gilbert Games and on 3rd September for the Dog Show. We hope to see you at these two events. Then on August 12, we shall be at the Bordon Fun Day, running a Bouncy Castle, at the Forest Centre.
If you wondered what Lions look like when they go out on a social, just take a peek at the Gallery page on the website, to see us enjoying our summer supper at the Cricketers, Kingsley. Great food, great hospitality, try it out for yourselves.
Come and join us, we are a sociable crowd, we work hard serving you, but still like to laugh together and have fun.
Last, but by no means least, we would like to give a really big Lions welcome to Maureen Johns, who joined us at the July meeting. Welcome Maureen, good on you.
