February 2021
The winter months have seen us become very involved in helping at the Forest Surgery vaccination clinics. We have been assisting with marshaling the outside area, assisting with car parking, and those of us involved have found it to be a very rewarding experience.
We have seen a full range of ages and abilities going in for their jabs, some with enthusiasm and some who needed some persuasion, but without a doubt they all came out with a smile on their face and were very appreciative of the help we were giving.
At the beginning of February, we very sadly lost one of our much -valued members. Michael Vincent. joined us over 14 years ago and, in those years, he served Woolmer Forest Lions in many ways - out there collecting funds, helping with serving the community and for the last few years had been responsible for organising the social side of Lions, a very important role. He will be greatly missed and our thanks go to his family for choosing to have us as the charity for donations in memory of Michael.
2021, sees us celebrating our 40th year as Woolmer Forest Lions Club and one of our members Derek, who is responsible for PR coverage, has been spending a lot of his lockdown time in researching what we have achieved in all those years. He has produced a very interesting booklet with the highlights and some pictures from the past. We will get these printed hopefully, and place copies into the library and community centre in the next month. So please keep a look out for them.
Hopefully, we will be able to organise some other special celebratory events for you to join in, and I will keep you informed of them, as things slowly return to normal. With things looking much brighter and plenty of future activities to get involved in , this is an ideal time to consider joining us. If you would like to find out more about membership then just drop a line to Richard Balchin, our Membership Chairman at richard.balchin@btinternet.com.
Please continue to take care and I look forward to seeing you out and about very soon.
