Woolmer Forest Lions held their inaugural Charity Golf Day at Blacknest on Friday 10th September. The event , which has been started to mark their 40th charter year, was attended by 48 golfers competing to win both team and individual prizes. Most of the teams managed to complete their round in dry conditions and the winning team trophy went to Derek Thayre, Peter Smith, Mike Redpath and Paul Mathews . The individual winners were Sue Andrews for the ladies with 33 points and Paul Mathews for the men with a fantastic 49 points.  A grand raffle to raise money for Brain Tumour Research was also held. The day raised a total of over £1000 which will be split between the two charities – Woolmer Forest Lions and Brain Tumour Research. After presenting the prizes, Lion President Joanne Wilson, thanked all who had attended for their fantastic support and hopes that this will now become an annual fundraising event for the local Lions Club.
